4月12日托福考试下午场考试分析

4月12日下午托福考试两套写作延续了上午场，重复了23年和24年3月的一些旧题。反而是口语部分，题目相对面生一些。除了有一个独立题重复了去年10月26日的题，其余托福题目都比较零散。考到的频次没有太高。

综合写作

主题：是否1500万年前南极洲的温度更高

阅读部分：

1. 科学家在南极洲发现了1500万年前的两种树的花粉粒 (pollen grain)。这种树适宜的生长温度要比现在的南极洲温度高。

2. 在Middle Miocene时期，曾有多次火山喷发，释放出大量二氧化碳，导致大气中的二氧化碳含量更高，从而使南极洲温度上升。

3. 在1500万年前生长的植物中发现了大量的氘 (deuterium)，而大量的氘也就意味着降雨量大。大量降雨通常与温度上升有关。

听力部分：

1. 在南极洲发现的花粉粒并不一定来源于南极洲。由于花粉粒非常轻，它们可以被风或者海水从温度较高的地区，比如南美或者新西兰，带到南极洲。

2. 其次，尽管当时南极洲多有火山喷发，然而先进的检测方法证明当时大气中的二氧化碳含量并没有上升，反而比现在更低。

3. 最后，植物中存在大量的氘并不总意味着雨量增加。不同植物能够吸收和存储的氘量是不同的。所以，很可能当时南极洲的雨量和现在相似，但当时生长在那里的植物能够吸收并储存更多的氘。

These educators argue that soft skills---nonacademic skills such as being empathetic or having a strong work ethic---should be part of the curriculum, with classroom time dedicated to developing these skills. 主题： 是否应该保护prairie dogs

阅读部分：

1. Cattle farmers argue against the protection of prairie dogs because these animals compete with cattle for grass, creating an economic problem for agriculture. 对农业有害。

2. Prairie dogs carry insects that can transmit the plague bacteria to humans so that they may represent a serious hazard. 有传染病。

3. Prairie dogs have not much ecological importance to broader ecosystem since they don’t belong to species at the top of the food chain. 对于生态体系不重要。

听力部分：

1. Currently, most of the cows feed on processed food and they live in enclosed feeding areas, which means that grass is not as precious as it was before. Also，according to some study, the activities of prairie dogs facilitate the fertility of soil in the grassland. 目前牲畜都是圈养，同时prairie dogs还可以促进土壤肥沃。

2. The kind of flea living on prairie dogs doesn’t tend to live on the bodies of human beings, which makes it less likely for the transmission of plague to happen. 这种跳蚤不传染人。

3. Although prairie dogs are only plant-eaters, they actually play a vital role in ecological system. Prairie dogs对于生态体系非常重要。

如何帮助新生适应新学校

This week we will discuss issues faced by secondary school administrators. I'm referring to schools for teenage students. One such issue is students who change schools. Students change schools for many different reasons, the most common being a family move. On the discussion board, l want you to exchange ideas about what schools can do to make the transition to a new school easier for teenagers.

I think schools should assign new students a fellow student who can help them adjust.

I would require new students to sign up for some school club or activity that meets outside of class.

本次考试的学术题重复了2024年3月2号以及8月21号下午场的题目。题目不算太难，是一个开放式的题目，学生们在破题时，既可以选择给出的两个方向，也可以自己发挥。今天我们这边从支持Paul 的看法以及再选一个新的角度出发，给大家做一个破题。

这个题从agree的角度更好讲，符合我们对于一个“好老师”的认知，我们给出的范答也是这个角度。但是如果想从disagree的角度讲，也不是不行，比如如果一个老师经常犯错，虽然承认错误的态度很好，但也说明这个老师不够专业。

范文：

I agree that good teachers usually stand corrected when making a mistake or admit they don’t know everything. First, these teachers are honest, and I think the most important quality of a good teacher is honesty. An honest teacher can not only win respect and trust from their students, which are critical to the relationship between a teacher and students, but also set a good example to students and inspire them to become honest people as well. Moreover, students can develop critical thinking skills if they have such teachers. For example, my geography teacher in high school always tells us not to believe everything he says because he sometimes makes mistakes, and we need to collect the data and explore the subject on our own. So I become a more independent learner.

Task 1
Some people think historical sites should be open to the general public, but some people think historical sites should only be open to experts and researchers. Which do you think is better？

这个题难度不大，从两个角度都很容易找到理由。范答是从开放给公众的角度来讲的，如果是从只开放给专家的角度来讲，可以说一方面，专家能从历史古迹中得到最有价值的信息，而游客都是走马观花，另一方面，游客多了很容易对历史古迹造成破坏。

范文：

I support the idea that the general public should have access to historical sites. First, citizens are entitled to visit the historical sites in their country. The government is normally responsible for the protection of most historical sites, and the protection fees come from the taxes people pay, so the historical sites should be rightfully open to people living in this country. Furthermore, it’s a great way to strengthen cultural exchange when historical sites in a country are open to the public, including foreign visitors. People can become more interested in local history and cultures after seeing the ancient relics and monuments in person, and foreign visitors will gain a deeper insight into the culture of the country they visit.
