The table illustrates the changes in the number of people travelling to Australia from four countries and one region throughout the 1990s. 

Overall, visitors to Australia from all areas witnessed an increase, with those from the UK numbering the most and those from Canada the least. 

Despite leading in four out of the five years, the UK, in 1991, had one thousand less visitors to Australia than those from the United States; however, by 1999, the UK had almost doubled its Australia-bound tourists from 1991 levels, coming in at five hundred and nine thousand visitors. Those from the US, though also incrementally and significantly climbing in number, remained below the four hundred thousand mark in the year before the turn of the century, as did the region of (1)‘other’ European area. Although also seeing an upward trend, tourist numbers from Germany only increased by sixty-five thousand over the nine-year period, with just one hundred forty thousand travelling to Australia in 1999. 

Out of all countries and regions, Canada had the fewest travellers to Australia, and in fact, in 1993, had even three thousand less visitors heading to Australia than in 1991, which stood at fifty-one thousand, while in comparison, had only risen by twenty-four thousand eight years later.
